Beamfar

Account and billing

How do the trial, plans and cancelling work?

Short answer

Beamfar is in its soft launch: the 14-day trial is free and needs no card, and paid plans open soon; no payment is taken until then. The trial lasts 14 days and needs no card and no billing details: an owner starts it in the setup, or from the Billing page, once per organisation and once per person. The plan you try sets the limits. Who pays is asked only when you choose a plan.

What the Billing page shows

The state of the subscription, the plan, when the trial ends, when the current period ends, the plan’s limits with how much of each is in use, and the invoices. Before the first payment an owner says who pays, a business or an individual: a business sees its prices excluding VAT, an individual the final price with VAT included (receipt or invoice explains the invoice). Card details never reach the app; they go only to the payment provider. Until paid plans open there is no checkout: no card is asked for and nothing is charged.

Limits and a pause

  • Past a plan limit, nothing is deleted: new items are blocked until there is room. The page names the limit that is over.
  • When the trial ends without a paid plan, the organisation moves to the Free plan: nothing is charged, one site stays monitored (the one with the most checks, then the oldest; an owner can pick another on the Billing page), checked every 5 minutes from two regions with alerts by e-mail and push, one status page and “Why this happened”. The other sites pause with their checks and history kept, and start again when a plan is chosen. Reports, the client portal, the API, the crawl, the security scan and the Client Risk Radar are on the paid plans. One Free organisation per person: a second organisation of the same account pauses when its trial ends.
  • With no active plan at all (a plan bought straight from the trial that ended, or an unpaid one), monitoring pauses. No checks run and no alerts are sent, and your sites, checks and history are kept. Checks resume by themselves when a plan is active again, oldest sites first when the plan allows fewer sites than you have.
  • If a payment fails, the payment provider retries it, and monitoring continues meanwhile.

Cancelling

An owner cancels on the Billing page with Cancel subscription. There is one confirmation, no reason is asked and nobody has to be contacted. The subscription then ends at the close of the period that is paid, or at the end of the trial: monitoring runs until that day, the plan does not renew and nothing more is charged, and the owners get an e-mail with the date. Until that day, Keep my plan on the same page undoes it.

An individual can also withdraw from the contract within 14 days of the first payment of a subscription, with Withdraw from contract here on the same page: the subscription ends at once and the whole payment is refunded.

Once a plan has ended, monitoring pauses and your sites, checks and history are kept; an organisation that was on the Free plan before goes back to Free instead. Nothing is deleted before the owners get two e-mails about it, and the Billing page says how long the data is kept. A copy of the data can be downloaded from the Your data page at any time.

When the terms change

When a significant change of the terms is coming, the owners get an e-mail at least 30 days before it takes effect, saying what changes. Owners accept the new version in the app, now or the next time they sign in after that day; until then the app asks for it. Monitoring and alerts keep running, and the Billing page (to cancel) and the Your data page stay open without accepting. A change that only corrects wording takes effect without a click.

Changing the plan, and yearly plans

Changing the plan or the payment method is done at the payment provider’s page, once paid plans open. A yearly plan renews by itself; the owners get a reminder about 30 days before, with the date and how to stop it. The refunds and cancellation terms says what the final terms must cover, and it is not in force.

Plan limits differ by plan: sites, people, alert channels, status pages and which features are included. The plan table on the home page is the current list.
